Double Standards

I see a double standard
In life
Surrounding me everyday

People say I make it up
As if I have
A persecution complex

Or do they think
That I'm delusional? 
A pathological liar?

The world says that you
Need to be open-minded
Accept everything, EVERYTHING

Even when what others believe
Contridicts everything I believe in, Everything I stand for
They say I MUST accept it

If I don't they say that I am
Narrow-minded and Prejudiced and
Intolerant and Bigoted and Insular

But, isn't that the
Double standard?
Why can't they see that?

If I say someone won't try to understand
They call me Intolerant
Aren't they the ones being Intolerant?

They can't accept (Or won't accept?)
That if I think something is wrong,
Something someone else believes in

That this disagreement
Doesn't make me
A bigot

Hate is what
Makes a person
A bigot

Just because I disagree
Does NOT mean I
Hate

The world says that you
Need to be open-minded
Accept EVERYTHING

Or else this
Double standard
Is imposed on you!
